Double Degree Master’s Program
- Master of Engineering of the Steinbeis University Berlin (SHB) “Aerospace Engineering and Lightweight Technologies”.
- Master of Science of the Tecnológico de Monterrey (ITESM) “Manufacturing Systems”.
In cooperation with the Mexican University Tecnológico de Moneterrey (ITESM), the ASA has developed a Double Degree Master’s Program in which a Master of Engineering as well as a Master of Science will be awarded. The aerospace industry in Europe and America with an international focus continues to expand into emerging countries. Mexico is of great importance for Central America and has experienced high growth rates in the aerospace industry throughout the last decade. European companies (Eurocopter, Snecma) also produce in Mexico. ITESM is a renowned private university with a great reputation and numerous locations in the economically significant Mexican states with more than 90.000 students. Like in all other study courses of the Steinbeis University Berlin a competence project is central to the students who will work on it in a German company. Students will be placed by the ASA with a within a compatible corporation for this purpose. While studying in Mexico, the students will gain access to at least one Mexican company. European as well as Mexican students can participate in this English-instructed study course. Cultural exchange and the long-term development of company relations between Germany and Mexico are key elements of this training program. After successfully completing the study program, the students are awarded a Master of Engineering from the Steinbeis University Berlin and a Master of Science from the ITESM.
The study course is divided into three phases:
Phase 1: 2 months at the ASA
The main aim of this phase is to place students in a company or research facility in Germany in order to define their competence project and to determine a supervisor. The basics of aerospace engineering, aircraft manufacturing and navigation are taught in this phase.
Phase 2: Studying the basics at the Tecnológico de Monterrey (12 months)
Priority of this phase is the teaching of more basics. Through an internship students will gain insight into at least one company in Mexico and will start working on their competence project.
Phase 3: Specialization program at the ASA (12 months)
In this phase the competence project and the master thesis are foregrounded. Students work in the companies on their competence project that is completed with a master thesis.
Specialization courses in aeronautical engineering, lightweight construction and aerospace engineering are taught by professors and scientists of excellent research facilities and industrial enterprises in Germany.
