Aerospace Summer School 2012

In the morning the rule of three, in the afternoon rockets. 06.09.2012 – SZBZ

A good night’s sleep in the last week of the summer vacation? This is not the case for 30 students of the summer school 2012. Mathematics, German and English will be on the program as well as rocket building and the visit of a space exhibition. In the rooms of the primary and secondary school in Goldberg, the Werkrealschüler (students of a technical-oriented school) of the 8th grade from 12 different schools of the school district do not only receive tutoring to improve their knowledge. Thanks to various cooperation partners like the German Aerospace Academy, for example, the afternoon “lessons” are always outside of school. These include a guided tour through the space exhibition Sensapolis and a trip to the Institute of Space Systems at the University of Stuttgart. “The pupils learn best through the combination of school and practical experience” says Prof. Dr. Monika Auweter-Kurtz, director of the German Aerospace Academy on the airfield. Detlef Schmidt-Glöckler, Schulrat of the state Education Office Böblingen, also encouraged the pupils in his greeting for the start of the week: “There are no silly questions. Ask the teachers everything you want to know or don’t understand.” Going to school during vacation? For high school teacher Dirk Ackermann (right) and the summer school participants this is no problem at all. – jg –
